2014-15 Salary Increase Program for Academic Employees

To:  UCSC Faculty and Non-Represented Academic Employees

From: Chancellor George Blumenthal and Campus Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor Alison Galloway

We are pleased to inform you that President Napolitano has approved a salary increase program for all faculty and eligible non-represented academic employees for fiscal year 2014-15. Salary scales for affected employee groups will be increased by approximately 3%, effective July 1, 2014. Above scale salaries and the off-scale component of salaries will also be increased by approximately 3 percent.

The 2014-15 academic salary increase program was approved to help maintain the quality of our faculty and other academic employees at UC. This program is part of a larger UC plan to reinvest in academic quality, which includes reducing the faculty salary gap between UC and its comparator institutions. The 2014-15 salary increase is in addition to the established advancement (merit and promotion) program for academic employees.

While salary scale adjustments for academic employees are usually effective on October 1, President Napolitano approved an effective date of July 1, 2014 for the 2014-15 program with the intention of keeping the July 1 effective date for future faculty salary programs. Additional information and implementation guidelines regarding the 2014-15 salary program for academic employees will be forthcoming from the Academic Personnel Office; questions can be directed to apo@ucsc.edu.

Academic employees are essential to the success of the academic mission of the University. We recognize and thank you for your dedication, service, and contributions that make UC Santa Cruz and the UC system outstanding institutions.
