Approximately 4,100 prospective freshmen have expressed their intent to enroll in UC Santa Cruz this fall, based on University of California systemwide data released June 30. More than one-third of the prospective new students are from groups traditionally underrepresented at four-year universities.

A team of UCSC researchers contributed to an analysis of genomic changes in ovarian cancer that has provided the most comprehensive and integrated view of cancer genes to date. Their work focused on understanding the molecular pathways in the cell that are disrupted in ovarian cancer.
