“Despite the heavy rain Deadheads and academics alike flooded McHenry Library at UC Santa Cruz on Saturday to get their first glimpse of the Grateful Dead Archive.
Visitors checked in at a beat-up van-turned-kiosk - appropriately adorned with phrases and signs reminiscent of the '60s and Dead culture. In the library, multicolored lights flickered across the walls and music played over the excited chatter of the audience.
The exhibit, housed in a room called "Dead Central" on the library's second floor, showcased the iconic posters of the Grateful Dead's tours and memorialized the culture of the Dead's fan base…”
