Astronomer Greg Laughlin was quoted in a story in Physics World about a proposal to search for Earth-like planets around white dwarf stars.

The Silicon Valley Business Journal ran a profile of astronomer Sandra Faber in a special section on "Women of Influence."

Geophysicist Steven Ward was interviewed on KAZU radio about the central coast's vulnerability to a tsunami.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel interviewed sociology professor Hiroshi Fukurai who was born in Sendai, Japan, which was struck by the earthquake and tsunami. Fukurai has extensive family there and has taken in two nieces who lost their home.

The Sentinel also noted the upcoming Rethinking Capitalism conference.

The Santa Cruz Good Times ran a story about research by chemists Phil Crews and Roger Linington on marine natural products as potential drug leads.
