Campus safety in the wake of threatened violence

To: UCSC Community

From: Campus Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor Alison Galloway

I would like to express my gratitude to the entire campus community for your cooperation and assistance in recent days. I want to acknowledge the stress this threat created for students, faculty, and staff. Recent weeks have been a powerful reminder that safety is an ongoing responsibility that we all share.

Small steps can make a big difference: If you have not already done so, please take a minute to update your contact information in CruzAlert, our emergency communications system. I also want to encourage you to watch the video about how best to respond to campus violence.

We are now more sensitized to signs of distress in the people around us, and we also know more about how to help them. If you are concerned about the well-being of a student or colleague, remember the "See Something, Say Something, Do Something" resources available to us all. As always, if you see something suspicious or behavior that concerns you, please notify police immediately.

In the end, we have much to be grateful for, and I thank you again for your help and patience.

See Something, Say Something, Do Something."
