UCSC Business and Administrative Services is pleased to announce that Associate Vice Chancellor Jean Marie Scott has accepted an appointment as Associate Vice Chancellor for Safety and Risk Services, effective December 1, 2010. Under the direction of Vice Chancellor Vani, AVC Scott will lead efforts by the campus to enhance and expand capacity for managing institutional risk, safety and security services.
Organizational planning and analysis over the next several months will allow the campus to consider best practices for creating a more robust and comprehensive approach for campus safety, risk reduction and emergency planning. This assessment and organizational development is critical for ensuring that the University is appropriately poised for managing campus community safety in our daily operations and emergency response management.
AVC Scott has served the campus in a number of capacities throughout her eighteen years of service to UCSC, including seven years as Porter College Administrative Officer, service as the Acting Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs for one year and service as the Associate Vice Chancellor for the Colleges and University Housing Services.
In her leadership of the Colleges and University Housing, she has served as steward for several critical new program and construction initiatives that supported the last ten years of campus enrollment expansion. Highlights include construction of approximately 3,000 student housing units; implementation of Colleges Nine and Ten; expansion of Employee Housing including Ranch View Terrace; and implementation of the University Dining Services program, including the University Center and Terra Fresca.
