Banff Festival of Mountain Films, showcasing some of the best mountain and outdoor productions of the year, chosen from over 200 entries–everything from ice climbing in Patagonia to dog sledding in the Iditarod Race–will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 7 p.m. in Classroom Unit 2. Tickets are $8/general and $6/students; the event is a benefit for the Wilderness Orientation Program. For more information, call (408) 459-2806.

UCSC student organizations are now part of the School Assistance Program (SAP). When shoppers tell the cashier at a participating store to give credit to SAP 90, a rebate will be given to the SOAR office to support student organizations. This month, local Longs Drug Stores will double the SAP rebate. Other SAP stores include: Shopper’s Corner, Palace Arts, Poor Richards, New Leaf, Zanotto’s, Round Table, The Buttery, India Joze, and Zoccoli’s.

Performing Age, Performing Crisis is the title of a talk by Jodi Brooks, a lecturer in film studies in the Cultural Studies Program at the University of Melbourne, on Wednesday, February 26, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Oakes Mural Room.
