Gabriel Zimmerman, 30 (sociology, '02), community outreach director for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, was one of six people fatally wounded in the Tucson shooting rampage.

Inspired by his commitment to public service, UCSC alums have helped launch a scholarship fund in honor of the Stevenson graduate.
