Electric vehicle promotional discounts and rebate offers

One of UC's carbon neutrality initiatives includes a goal of having 4.5% of commute vehicles be zero-emission vehicles by 2025. As part of that initiative, TAPS is sharing information about two electric vehicle promotions currently available to all UCSC staff, faculty, students through the end of June. The offers and rebates shown below are for information purposes only and do not constitute an endorsement of any of the listed products, services or programs.

To obtain this special pricing, bring your UCSC Employee or Student Identification Card and this flier with you to the local dealership. Details for each offer are available by clicking on the highlighted links below.

  • Nissan is offering a $10,000 discount on the purchase of a new 2017 Nissan LEAF through June 30, 2017.
  • Ford is offering a $500 discount on the purchase of a variety of Ford electric or plug-in hybrids, as well as special leasing pricing through July 5, 2017.

In addition, besides potential federal ($7,500) and state ($2,500) rebates, special rebates are available locally to help with the costs of purchasing, leasing, or operating an electric vehicle.

  • The Monterey Bay Air Resources District (MBARD) is currently offering an Electric Vehicle Rebate of $500 to $2,000 for the purchase or lease of qualified new and certified used electric vehicles for residents of Santa Cruz, Monterey or San Benito Counties until funds are exhausted.
  • Pacific Gas & Electric also has a $500 Clean Fuel Rebate to eligible customers.
