At 8:25 p.m. on November 10, UC Santa Cruz Police Department arrested Kyle Daroza, 22, of Campbell, and Alan Lema, 22, a student affiliated with Kresge College, on a suspicion of felony vandalism after they were seen by witnesses using a sledge hammer attempting to smash the parking machines near the Office of Physical Education, Recreation, and Sports (OPERS).

Officers found Daroza and Lema in a white 2006 Mazda pick-up truck near the lower parking lot at Rachel Carson College, where they were taken into custody without incident. Anyone witnessing this crime is encouraged to call the dispatch center at 831-459-2231, ext 1.

These arrests, coupled with other arrests in the past few weeks, exemplify how working together we can prevent crime in our community.

The community is encouraged to report all crimes and suspicious activity or persons by dialing 911 or 831-459-2231, ext. 1.

Report all in-progress crimes by calling 911 from any landline or cell phone. Reports may also be made by using one of the many "blue light," emergency or elevator phones located throughout the campus, or in person at the UC Santa Cruz Police Department.
