Campus police department sponsoring rape aggression defense program

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Nader Oweis, Chief of Police, UC Santa Cruz

The UC Santa Cruz Police Department will be sponsoring a Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) program during the fall quarter:

Dates: November 19 and November 20 (RAD is a two-day program)
Time: 10 a.m.–4 p.m. both days
Location: UC Santa Cruz Police Department

The Rape Aggression Defense system is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women-identified individuals. The RAD System is a comprehensive course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. RAD is not a martial arts program.

The courses are taught by nationally certified RAD instructors and provide each student with a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for reference and continuous personal growth, and is the key to out free lifetime return and practice policy for RAD graduates.

Registration is required and space is limited. Registration is also limited to UC Santa Cruz affiliates (students, staff, and faculty).
