Slug Support seeks donations to benefit students in need

Slug Support, the new initiative program working under the Dean of Students Office, is seeking the help of all the wonderful faculty and staff at UCSC.

College can be a challenging time for students, and during times of stress it is not always easy find the help you need.  The UCSC Slug Support Program was created to promote early intervention with students of concern to prevent culminating problems from escalating into a crisis.  The goal is to identify students of concern and develop an action plan focusing on retention through provision of support and resources.  UCSC's Slug Support Program is two parts, comprised of both an individual Slug Support Coordinator and the Slug Support Team.

We are asking for donations for the program, (i.e. toiletries, towels, blankets, pillows, etc.) even if they are slightly soiled or damaged.  In particular, after conducting a sample survey of our first event we realized that after food, the most asked for items were toiletries, (i.e. toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, body wash, acne products, shampoo, conditioner, feminine hygiene, razors, and toilet paper among others. All donations are greatly appreciated and we can set up a time and location at your convenience to pick up or have them shipped out. Or you can drop them off at the front desk of the Dean of Students Office.  If you decide to donate we can provide you with a tax write off as well. Thank you for your support in advance.
