Time to Renew Parking Permits and Metro Bus Passes

To: UCSC Staff

From: Larry Pageler, Transportation and Parking Services Director

It is time for staff and faculty to renew or purchase parking permits and Metro bus passes for 2014-15.

There are no parking fee increases at this time; however, a $1.25/month increase to the faculty/staff bus pass has been recommended by the campus Transportation Advisory Committee. This increase will take the current $8.75/month rate to $10/month. (The monthly rate for non-university affiliates is $65/month.) The new rate will take affect as soon as final approval is made by senior administrators and will automatically be applied to your payroll deduction.

Annual parking permits and staff/faculty Metro bus passes expire on June 30, 2014. Staff and faculty who need to renew their parking permit or bus pass for 2014-15 can apply on-line now (http://basx2.ucsc.edu/application14/), or in person at the TAPS Sales Office.

Staff and Faculty with Multi-Year parking permits do not need to reapply in order to continue using their permit, unless they want to select a different type of permit or want to purchase a 2014-15 Metro bus pass. If you are unsure if you have a Multi-Year permit you can compare it to the online permit samples at http://taps.ucsc.edu/parking/parking-permits/multi-year-permit-sample.html.
Note:  Due to construction projects near Cowell, Stevenson, and Humanities this summer, parking in that area will be significantly reduced from mid-June to mid-September. An information session with representatives from Physical Planning & Construction, Physical Plant, and TAPS has been set for Friday, May 30, from 1:30-2:30pm in the Cowell Conference Room. Those who regularly park in that area may wish to attend the information session before renewing their permit.
