To: To the members of the Porter College Community

From: Sean Keilen Provost, Porter College; Michael Yamauchi-Gleason CAO, Porter and Kresge Colleges

We regret to tell you that Josabet Tassu, a freshman at the University and a member of Porter College, died Monday night, following a prolonged illness. At the time of Josabet's death, she was a resident of Oakland, CA.

According to her family and friends, Josabet relished the brief period that she spent at UC Santa Cruz, and she was especially grateful for the compassion that students, faculty, and staff extended to her as she pursued a degree in Business Management Economics while coping with the challenges of ill health.

Sad and shocking news can be difficult to process. We encourage students who wish to speak with someone to contact Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at (831) 459-2628. Faculty and staff may wish to call the Employee Assistance Program at (831) 459-4996.
