The UC Santa Cruz Office of Physical Education, Recreation and Sports announces the new Sammy Slug Summer Camp, a recreational summer program for boys and girls entering 1st through 5th grades.

Using the UCSC campus as our playground, activities may include team sports, individual sports, swim, dance, martial arts, hiking and exploration, and more. The goal is to provide a safe, active, and affordable alternative to a stale and sedentary summer.

Experienced recreation professionals are designing the camp which will be staffed by UCSC students. With a focus on safety, all staff will be screened through a criminal background check, certified in First Aid/CPR, and trained in safe practices.

The focus is on fun, with staff trained on age-appropriate activities, motivational strategies, and over-the-top enthusiasm! The camp will be offered in one-week sessions in July and August with half-day, full-day, pre-camp and post-camp offerings.

Online registration through Activenet begins Monday, April 1st. There is also a mail-in registration option. Please go to the OPERS website for more information at opers.ucsc.edu.
