Join the Staff Advisory Board

Joining the Staff Advisory Board is an excellent opportunity for you to get involved with your campus and community. Becoming an SAB member can put you face to face with campus and system wide leaders who can help you better understand staff policies and how to effect positive change for staff on a campus and system wide level.

Getting involved with the SAB will also provide you with many avenues for you to pursue community building efforts, both on the campus and in the greater Santa Cruz community.  The SAB is proud to participate in efforts such as the, United Way, Second Harvest Holiday Food Drive, Transportation Advisory Committee, Student Fee Advisory Committee, Advocacy, Diversity and much more.  The SAB believes in leading by example.

The SAB is also honored to host the Chancellor's Staff Forums and the annual staff picnic. We also coordinate and administer the peer to peer Thumbs Up award each year, as well as working together with the Alumni Association to present the annual Outstanding Staff member award.

SAB also participates with UC system wide. Two Board members from each campus are sent to quarterly meetings of the Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) where staff issues are shared and discussed. The Staff Advisors to the Regents are almost always present for CUCSA gatherings. Proposals from the CUCSA delegation are then put forward to UCOP and the Regents. In this way CUCSA and the local Staff Assemblies have been responsible for some of the most major changes to affect all of Staff across the whole of UC.

We sincerely hope that you will consider taking this opportunity to represent your fellow staff members, learn more about staff issues and get involved in some very meaningful community building efforts.

Please complete the self-nomination form below and then, using cut and paste, reply in an e-mail to: sabnominations@ucsc.edu before April 13, 2012. Elections will be held April 23–May 4, and new members will be announced at the Staff Appreciation Picnic on May 9.  New members will be invited to the June 20 board meeting.

*While the Staff Advisory Board is honored to represent all of staff equally, because of collective bargaining issues, only non-represented staff is technically eligible to hold SAB positions.
