Student Volunteer Center

From: Will Brotherson, Program Director for the Student Volunteer Center

Hello Slugs! My name is Will Brotherson and I am the Program Director of the Student Volunteer Center. The Student Volunteer Center is a non-profit, student-run and student-funded organization whose mission is to provide meaningful volunteer opportunities to UCSC students. You may have seen some of our flyers posted around the campus, or came to check out our booth at the Fall OPERS Festival, and wondered “What exactly does SVC do?” Well in short, we help students get involved!

Far too often, students who want to get involved in their community get discouraged when they realize how difficult getting the ball rolling can be. After all, there are only so many flyers one can scavenge through on a bus stop. And what if none of those opportunities are interesting to you? That’s where SVC comes in! We act as the bridge between interested students and community organizations. Essentially, we are UCSC’s one-stop shop for all things volunteer related!

So if you’re interested in getting involved in the community, through volunteering or internships, we are the people you should see first! To get started, you can email us at volunteer@ucsc.edu and browse through our website: http://www2.ucsc.edu/svc/. Also, feel free to drop by our office anytime; we are located at Hahn Student Services, Room 245 at the Dean of Students Office. We have an open door policy and are always happy to help any students that come by. I hope you all have an amazing year. Happy Volunteering.
