I want to inform you of changes under way in our Student Affairs units — and of a decision regarding divisional leadership. This reorganization includes a plan I previously announced to have our enrollment management units report to the vice provost and dean of undergraduate education.
This additional restructuring will eliminate the position of the vice chancellor of student affairs and realign the reporting structure of the division's administrative and student-support units.
Chancellor Blumenthal and I sincerely appreciate the service that Vice Chancellor Felicia McGinty has provided the campus since 2007. During multiple years of challenging budget cuts, Felicia contributed an abundance of energy and ideas to our senior administrative team — and we are very grateful for her many contributions.
Effective September 1, the units of student engagement, student health services, retention services, and judicial affairs — under the leadership of AVC and Dean of Students Alma Sifuentes — will report directly to me. The units of the colleges, housing, dining, and the bookstore — under the leadership of AVC for Auxiliary Services Sue Matthews — will report to our new Vice Chancellor of Business and Administrative Services, Christina Valentino. My office will work closely with the AVCs and Staff Human Resources to ensure a smooth transition for all affected units.
In an era of diminished resources, these changes — in tandem with the Enrollment Management realignment — will streamline the delivery of services to students. Now more than ever, Chancellor Blumenthal and I believe we must focus on providing excellent support to students. This reorganization reflects that commitment.

Quiero informarles de cambios en nuestras unidades de Asuntos Estudiantiles – y de una decisión con respecto al liderazgo de la división. Esta reestructuración adicional eliminará el cargo de vicecanciller de asuntos estudiantiles y realineará la estructura informada de las unidades administrativas, y las unidades de apoyo a los estudiantes, en la división.
