Atmospheric scientist Patrick Chuang wins Teaching Excellence Award

The Phi Beta Kappa Northern California Association has awarded a 2010 Teaching Excellence Award to Patrick Chuang, associate professor of Earth and planetary sciences at UC Santa Cruz.

Chuang is among four faculty members from Northern California colleges and universities chosen to receive the teaching awards this year. Each award consists of a certificate and $500 honorarium. The awards were presented on May 2 at the association's annual dinner at the UC Berkeley Faculty Club.

Chuang is an atmospheric scientist whose research addresses the interactions of aerosols, clouds, and climate. His teaching includes courses on Weather and Climate, Fundamentals of Environmental Science, Tropical Climate, and Planetary Atmospheres.
