Santa Cruz Good Times ran a cover story about innovative research at UCSC featuring electrical engineer Wentai Liu, computer scientist Michael Mateas, bioinformatics expert Josh Stuart, Life Lab director Gail Harlamoff, and marine ecologist Peter Raimondi.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel ran an article about the West Coast Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics featuring physics students Melinda Soares and Jessica Missaghian, department manager Sissy Madden, and physicists David Belanger and Michael Dine.

Paul Houghtaling, a researcher who tracks area mountain lions, and environmental studies professor Chris Wilmers were quoted in the Sentinel after the death of two pygmy goats were suspected to be the work of a mountain lion. Wilmers was also quoted and photographed after a mature male lion was struck and killed on Highway 17.

Student Evelyn Castle (health sciences '11) and staff member and alumnus Adam Thompson (information systems management '05) were featured in a Sentinel article about their work with the Global Information Internship Program to improve maternal and child health in Nigeria.

The Sentinel ran a prominent feature story about 26-year-old alumnus Ezequiel Olvera Jr. and the 2010 Scholarship Benefit Dinner at which he will be one of the keynote speakers.

And the Sentinel reported that art lecturer Tim Craighead was one of four Santa Cruz artists chosen to receive a $20,000 Rydell Visual Arts Fellowship for 2010-2011 to pursue their artistic interests.

American Studies professor Forrest Robinson was interviewed on KUSP radio about his research on Mark Twain.
