Student Regent recruitment applications due February 18

To: UCSC Staff and Faculty

From: Vice Chancellor Felicia E. McGinty, Student Affairs

One of the most important leadership opportunities offered to UC students is an appointment to serve on the UC Board of Regents. Within the Santa Cruz campus community, there are many students with outstanding leadership abilities. If you know of a student with the talent for a prestigious University leadership position, I encourage you to email the student's name and contact information to deanofstudents@ucsc.edu.

A candidate for the position of student Regent must be an enrolled undergraduate, graduate, or professional student in good academic standing for the two year duration of the student Regent term.

Interested students may obtain an application at http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/regents/app11.pdf. Applications are due no later than February 18, 2009. Students are encouraged to get an early start in completing the application by researching the essay questions and preparing a resume. The Dean of Students Office will be offering orientation sessions for interested students during the week of January 11th and the Career Center will also be available to assist students with resume writing and interview preparation.

Let's make our campus proud and create history by ensuring that the next student Regent is a UCSC student.
