The University invites your comments on the proposed Outside Professional Activities Policy for Senior Management Group Members (SMG), which was discussed by The Regents on November 19, 2009.

The proposed Outside Professional Activities policy was developed as part of the ongoing review of the University's policies and practices on senior management compensation that was initiated at the request of the Regents in response to the findings of the Task Force on UC Compensation, Accountability, and Transparency. The policy and a summary of key changes are posted here.

The proposed policy consolidates existing policy, procedures, and reporting requirements into a single, clear and comprehensive policy document, utilizing a new template clearly identifying approval authority, reporting and compliance requirements, and accountable policy officers.

Because this policy is to be voted on at the January 2010 Regents meeting, the campuses have been given a short comment period. Comments may be provided by December 3, 2009. Senior Management Group members and academic employees should direct their comments to Joseph Johnson at josephcj@ucsc.edu.
