Ridesharing opportunity for Thanksgiving

To: UCSC Students

From: TAPS Director Larry Pageler

Heading home for Thanksgiving? Use Zimride to find others going the same way as you are. Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) has partnered with Zimride to provide a UCSC-specific rideshare program that makes it easy to share seats in your car or catch a ride with fellow UCSC students.

Zimride works at the spur-of-the-moment for quick trips to San Jose, San Francisco, and Bay Area cities when you want to get to your special event. It works for sharing a ride to the airport, or for road trips home for the holidays and breaks. You can also use Zimride to find a UCSC student or employee to carpool with on a regular basis.

It's simple. Have a car? Split the costs and save money by driving other members of the UCSC community. Don't have a car? Find a ride where you need to go. If you are a Zipcar member, you can post your ride and share the costs, too! With Zimride you can also check out the profiles of your classmates before you share the ride.

Ridesharing reduces campus traffic and parking impacts, and substantially reduces your carbon footprint. It also saves you money-even if you're only sharing the ride (and the costs) with one other person. Campus commuters who regularly share the ride may be eligible to receive significant cost savings on their parking permit. For more information about the carpool parking program, visit the TAPS website at http://www2.ucsc.edu/taps/carpoolinformation.html

If you add a ride before November 30th, you'll be entered to win a $50 gas card.
