Career Center Fall Events - Job Fairs for Students

To: UCSC Faculty

Our students are concerned about their future. The job outlook for college graduates has become increasingly challenging. Between March 2008 and March 2009, the unemployment rate more than doubled for college graduates and it is projected that liberal arts students will be hardest hit. In a recent survey by the Collegiate Employment Research Institute, only six percent of employers reported they want to hire humanities or liberal arts majors, and only ve percent of employers are hiring social science majors.

The Career Center is seeking your support by encouraging your students to utilize our resources, as well as playing an active role in recommending to your professional affiliates they advertise job and internship opportunities on our SlugQuest job board. Over 16,000 UCSC students are currently registered in our SlugQuest database with many seeking employment. Together we can leverage our assets to support students in their professional pursuits.

The Career Center serves as the University's central point for employment of students and recruitment activities for employers. We offer job placement services, SlugQuest access and a variety of other resources including career advising and workshops.

As a vital mentor to students, the Career Center appreciates your reinforcement of our efforts by announcing the following Fall events to students during lectures and advising:
