History professor Dana Frank was quoted in a number of news outlets and blogs about a letter from 35 U.S. experts on Latin America asking Secretary of State Hillary Clinton not to permit early elections in Honduras, including La Tribuna (Honduras), El Canario7 (Canary Islands), ADN (Madrid), El Financiero (Mexico City), El Diario CoLatino.com (San Salvador), and the online German magazine Telepolis. Frank also had a new op-ed piece syndicated online by New American Media in both English and Spanish. In addition, Frank appeared with Latin American studies assistant professor Hector Perla on the Santa Cruz Community Television show "Voices from the Village," and Perla appeared as a guest on Radio Jamaica commenting about the coup.

Shannon Gleeson of Latin American and Latino studies published a letter in the San Jose Mercury News defending comments by Supreme Court nominee Judge Sonia Sotomayor. "We do not live in a color and gender blind society," wrote Gleeson.
