Energy Conservation Request: 7/8/08-7/10/08

The California Independent System Operator has activated a Flex Alert for the CAISO Grid, for all of California's electrical distribution system. They are asking all utility users to conserve energy. During this period, conservation is extremely important. This ISO Flex Alert is in effect from July 8 at 13:00 p.m. to July 10 at 18:00 p.m.

We all need to conserve electricity as much as possible.

  • Disconnect all appliances that are not being used (some appliances still use energy even when turned off)

  • Turn off all lighting not necessary for maintaining a safe environment. If appropriate, use task lighting instead of overhead lighting.

  • Turn off all non-essential office equipment

  • Turn off unnecessary PCs, monitors, printers, and copiers. If unable to switch off the entire computer, turn off the monitor and printer

  • If appropriate, use laptop computers and inkjet printers, they consume 90 percent less energy than standard desktop computers.

PLEASE NOTIFY ALL UNITS AND/OR DEPARTMENTS IN YOUR BUILDING OR AREA. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
