UCSC librarian recognized by Special Libraries Association

Wei Wei

Wei Wei, a librarian at the UCSC Science & Engineering Library, has been honored as a 2007 Fellow of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) for service to the profession.

The SLA is a nonprofit global organization for innovative information professionals and their strategic partners. SLA serves more than 11,000 members in 75 countries in the information profession, including corporate, academic, and government information specialists.

Wei is the Computer Science/Computer Engineering and Technology & Information Management librarian for the Science & Engineering Library. An SLA member since 1987, she has been an active member of the Science and Technology Division, serving as chair as well as holding various committee assignments. She also served on a variety of committees for other organizational programs, including Diversity Leadership and International Relations.

Wei is the editor of Scholarly Communication in Science & Engineering Research in Higher Education and one of the editors of Leadership and Management Principles in Libraries in Developing Countries, published in 2004 by Haworth Press. She is also a member of the editorial board of Science and Technical Libraries, a peer-reviewed journal.

Wei holds a master's degree in American literature from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and a master's degree in information and library studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
