Anti-war protest planned for Wednesday, May 9; main campus entrance may be affected

Student leaders of a new group, Protest Mediation Council, have informed the campus that they have organized an anti-war rally that will begin in Quarry Plaza at approximately noon today (May 9). The rally is expected to transition into a march to the base of campus at approximately 1 p.m. The march will occur on Hagar Drive, and traffic delays may result.

The organizers have also informed the campus that they intend to block the main entrance (in both directions) from 1:15 to 2:15. (UPDATE: As of 1:45 p.m., the main entrance had reopened to vehicular traffic. If you are driving through that area, please drive slowly as protesters remain in the area.)

The west entrance to campus is expected to remain open throughout the day.
