On-line Ethics Briefing Scheduled to Launch on April 12

To: UCSC Academic and Staff Employees

From: Acting Chancellor Blumenthal

In early April, an on-line Ethics Briefing--required for all UC employees--will be launched at UCSC. The purpose of this briefing is to familiarize employees with the Statement of Ethical Values and Standards of Ethical Conduct, which were adopted by the UC Regents in May 2005.

The online briefing, developed by the Office of the President (UCOP) with the vendor Workplace Answers, can be taken on any computer with Internet access. We anticipate you will receive an email the week of April 9, with a personalized link that will direct you to the briefing. The briefing takes about 30 minutes to complete and includes several interactive ethical workplace scenarios. Please complete the briefing by June 15, 2007.

Employees without Internet access will be able to attend a classroom version of the briefing delivered at a later date on the UCSC campus.

Thank you in advance for your participation in this important matter. A thoughtful approach to ethical practices and behaviors will help guide our UCSC community.
