Where: Seymour Marine Discovery Center and the Center for Ocean Health, Joseph M. Long Marine Laboratory

Details: The Center for Ocean Health is a state-of-the-art research facility for UCSC's Institute of Marine Sciences. The 23,000-square-foot facility was completed last spring and has been occupied since June 2001. The center serves as a focal point for scientific research, education, and policy programs in the general area of ocean health. Construction of the Center for Ocean Health was largely funded by a $5 million grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.

Directions: Long Marine Lab is located at the end of Delaware Ave. in Santa Cruz. From Santa Cruz, take Highway 1 (Mission St.) north; turn left on Swift St.; turn right on Delaware Ave. Follow Delaware to the Long Marine Lab entrance. The event will begin at the Seymour Center, which is located at the end of the entrance road.
