Mystified by fruit trees? Answers are free on January 12

Have you been lusting after your neighbor's lemon tree? Attracted by the bounty of a friend's apple tree? Coveting the apricot tree down the block, yet too intimidated by the care of fruit trees to add these beauties to your garden?

Fear no more, for help is on the way. Fruit tree expert Orin Martin, manager of the Alan Chadwick Garden at UC Santa Cruz, will hold a free question-and-answer session on Saturday, January 12, from 10 a.m. to noon at the San Lorenzo Garden Center at 236 River Street in Santa Cruz.

Martin will discuss the general care of fruit trees and will offer advice on the varietal selections that are best suited for home gardens.

Martin's talk is sponsored by the Friends of the UCSC Farm & Garden, which supports the activities of the UCSC Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems.
